Your whole move, one clear step at a time.
Most of the stress in moving comes from not knowing what happens next. Who packs the kitchen? When does the truck leave? What if something breaks? This page answers all of that before you even call us.
Below you will find every stage of a Lifter Shifter move, from your first message to the week after you settle in. For each stage, we show what our team does and what we will ask of you, side by side. Nothing is hidden, and nothing is left to guesswork.
Nine stages. One person guiding you through them.
Every Lifter Shifter move follows the same path, whether it is a single room across town or a 4 BHK across the country. The size of the job changes. The order of the steps does not. That is what keeps things calm: you always know what has happened, what is happening now and what comes next.
Your move manager is with you through all nine stages. They update your move tracker as each stage is done, usually with a short WhatsApp message, so you never have to ask, "Where are my things right now?"
First we listen. Then we price.
These first three stages usually take a few days. They cost you nothing, and you are free to stop at any point. By the end, you will have a clear written price and a move manager who already knows your home.

Your enquiry
Tracker: Enquiry receivedIt all starts with a simple message. You don't need to know every detail yet, and you don't need to fill a long form.
What we doWe note your basic details: where you are moving from and to, the rough size of your home, and the date you have in mind. Your enquiry goes to a move manager, who becomes your single contact from now on. They call you back within 30 minutes to introduce themselves and fix a time to understand your move properly. If you only want a rough idea first, they can share a starting estimate on that call.
What you doFill the short form on our contact page, call +91 93261 78863 or send a WhatsApp message to +91 93261 78863. The basics are enough: your name, phone number, the two places and anything special, like "third floor, no lift" or "moving with a scooter". If your dates are not fixed yet, that is fine. Just tell us the rough month.

Understanding your move
Tracker: Move understoodTo give an honest price, we need to see or hear what is moving. We do this with a quick call, a home visit or a video walk-through, whichever suits you.
What we doFor a small move, a short phone call is often enough. For a full home, your move manager visits or walks through your home with you on a video call. They look at the big furniture, the fragile things, the floor, the lift, the stairs and how close a truck can park. They also ask what worries you most, so the plan covers it from the start.
What you doShow us everything that is moving, including the loft, the balcony and the storeroom. People often forget the old cooler on the terrace or the trunk under the bed. Point out anything delicate or precious, like a glass showcase, puja items or a piano. Mention any society rules on lift use or moving hours, and tell us what is staying behind so we don't count it.

Your written quote
Tracker: Quote sentWithin 24 hours of understanding your move, you get a written quote on WhatsApp or email. This is the price you will pay.
What we doThe quote lists every charge on its own line: packing material, labour, loading, transport, unloading, and any extras like crates, storage or insurance. It also shows the truck size, the planned dates and the payment steps. If we have assumed anything, like "lift available at the new building", we write that down too, so there is no confusion later. See our pricing page for a sample.
What you doRead it slowly and ask about anything that is not clear. Check that all your items are counted and the floor and lift details are right. Compare it with other quotes if you like, looking at what each one includes, not only the total. Want to drop an extra or change the packing level? Tell your move manager and you will get a revised quote.
Booked, planned and ready to go
Once your date is fixed, the planning moves from "how much" to "how exactly". This is where small preparations, from society permissions to a packed first-night bag, make moving day calm.

4
Booking and your date
Tracker: Date bookedOnce you are happy with the quote, we lock in your date, your truck and your team.
What we doWe confirm your booking in writing with the date, the team's arrival time and the truck size, and we reserve the crew and vehicle for you. If you are moving at month-end or near a festival, we suggest booking early because those dates fill fast. For intercity moves, we also share the expected delivery window. Your move manager sets up a WhatsApp chat for updates, or regular calls if you prefer.
What you doPay the booking amount mentioned in your quote and keep the receipt. Check that the date works with your landlord, your new society and your leave from work. If either building needs a lift booking or a society NOC for shifting, apply for it now, not the day before. Tell us if anyone in the family needs support on the day, like an elderly parent or a small baby.

Preparing before moving day
Tracker: Ready for packingThe days before the move are about small jobs that make the big day smooth. A little preparation here saves hours later.
What we doA day or two before, your move manager calls to confirm the time, both addresses, the team size and where the truck will park. They remind you what to keep aside and answer any last questions. If your move needs special crates, we measure and prepare them in advance. For vehicle or intercity moves, your move manager tells you exactly which papers to keep ready.
What you doDecide what is going and what is not, and sell, donate or throw out the rest. Empty and defrost the fridge a day before, and use up open food. Pack a "first night" bag with clothes, medicines, chargers, toiletries and important papers. Keep jewellery, cash and documents with you, not in the truck. Let your bank, internet provider and gas agency know about the new address.
Careful packing, safe loading, steady updates
This is the busiest part of the move, and the part people worry about most. Our team follows the same careful routine in every home, so nothing is rushed and nothing is left behind.

Packing day
Tracker: Packed and labelledThe team arrives at the agreed time with all the packing material. You don't need to arrange a single carton.
What we doThe team leader first walks through your home with you. Then packing starts, room by room. Fragile items are wrapped one by one, furniture is opened where needed, and screws go into marked bags. Every box is labelled with its room and contents and added to the inventory list. We protect floors, lift walls and doorways where needed. For most local moves, packing and loading happen on the same day.
What you doBe at home, or have someone you trust there. Stay nearby to answer quick questions like "Is this going too?" Point out any boxes you packed yourself so we can check them. Before loading starts, go through the inventory list with the team leader, sign it and keep a copy or a photo. Then do a last walk through every room, cupboard and loft.

Loading and transit
Tracker: On the roadYour goods are loaded with care and the journey begins. From here, you hear from us at every key point.
What we doHeavy items go in first and are tied firmly. Boxes are stacked with heavy ones at the bottom and fragile ones on top. The truck is closed and locked. For local moves, it goes straight to your new home. For intercity moves, your move manager shares updates when the truck leaves, during the journey and before arrival. If weather or roads cause a delay, you hear it from us first.
What you doTravel to your new place and keep the keys handy. Check that the new home is clean, that water and electricity are on, and that the lift is booked for delivery. Keep your phone reachable so the team can call when they are close. If you need to change the delivery time, tell your move manager early so they can plan the team at the other end.
We don't stop at the door
A move is only finished when you feel at home. These last two stages make sure your things are in the right place and that any problem is sorted quickly.

Delivery, unpacking and setup
Tracker: Delivered and set upThis is where the move turns into a home. The same care that went into packing goes into setting things down.
What we doWe unload and check every box against the inventory list with you. Boxes go to the rooms written on their labels. We put beds and wardrobes back together and place big furniture where you want it. If you booked unpacking, we unpack the kitchen and other rooms and take away the empty cartons and wrapping. Before leaving, we walk through the home with you to make sure everything is in place.
What you doStand near the entrance with the inventory list and tick items off as they come in. Tell the team where each big piece goes before they put it down, because moving a sofa twice tires everyone. If you can, open a few fragile boxes while the team is still there. Sign the delivery note once you have checked, and write down anything that looks damaged.

After the move, and claims
Tracker: Settled inOur job does not end when the truck drives away. If anything needs fixing, we are still one call away.
What we doYour move manager checks in after the move to see how you are settling. If you find damage while unpacking, we respond quickly. If you took insurance, we guide you through the claim and tell you which photos and papers are needed. On request, we come back to collect leftover cartons or finish a small furniture fitting we missed.
What you doUnpack the rooms you use most first: kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. If you notice damage, take clear photos before moving the item and tell your move manager within 48 hours. Keep the inventory list and receipts safe until everything is unpacked. Update your address with your bank, employer and other services. You can read more on our insurance page.
What a local move and an intercity move look like
Every move has its own pace, but most follow a pattern like the ones below. Before your move, your move manager shares your own timeline with real times, so you can plan your day, your leave and your family around it.

Good to know before you begin
These are the questions people ask most about how a move actually runs. If yours is not here, your move manager will be happy to explain.
Read all questionsHow long does it take from first call to moving day?
For a planned move, two to three weeks is comfortable. Small local moves can sometimes be done within a few days if a team is free.
Do you have to visit my home?
Not always. Small moves can be priced on a call. For bigger homes, a short visit or video walk-through gives a more accurate quote.
Who do I talk to during the move?
Your move manager, from the first call until after delivery. Their number is in your booking confirmation.
Can I change my date after booking?
Usually, yes. Tell us as early as possible. The terms for date changes are written in your quote. Changes made at least 48 hours before moving day cost nothing extra.
What if it rains on moving day?
In the monsoon we add extra plastic wrapping, keep cartons off wet ground and load as close to the gate as possible.
Do I need to be there the whole day?
Someone you trust should be there for the walk-through, the inventory signing and the final check. In between, you can step out.
What happens if something is damaged?
Take photos, note it on the delivery note and tell your move manager within 48 hours. We will guide you through the next steps.
Stage one takes just a minute.
Send us the basics and your move manager will take it from there. No pressure, no obligation.
