Honest answers to the questions people ask us most
Before a move, everyone has questions. How much will it cost? Will my things be safe? What do I need to do on the day? We have answered the common ones here in simple words, grouped by topic. Tap a topic below to jump straight to it.
If your question is not here, just ask us. A real person from our team will explain, as many times as you need.
Getting your move started
When to book, how the survey works, and what to do when plans change. A little planning in the first week saves a lot of stress later, especially if you are moving near month end or during the festive season.
How our process worksHow early should I book my move?
For a local move, try to book two to three weeks ahead. For an intercity move, three to four weeks gives us time to plan the truck and the route. The first and last few days of each month fill up fast, and so do weekends and festival seasons. If you need to move sooner, call us anyway. Short-notice moves are often possible.
Do you do a survey before giving a price?
Yes, and it is free. We either visit your home or do a video call, whichever suits you. During the survey we look at your furniture and appliances, check the stairs, lift and parking, and decide the right truck size and team. It is the surest way to get a written price that will not change on moving day.
Can I book without a home visit?
Yes. A video call works well for most homes. Walk us through each room on your phone, opening cupboards and showing the loft, balcony and store room. You can also send photos and a rough list on WhatsApp. For very large homes or offices we may suggest a visit, just so nothing is missed and your price stays accurate.
Can I move on a weekend or a holiday?
Yes, as long as a team is free on that day, so book early. Before you fix the date, check with your housing society. Many buildings do not allow moving on Sundays or after certain hours, and some need the service lift booked or an NOC in advance. Your move manager can help you plan around these rules.
Can I change my moving date after booking?
Yes. Tell your move manager as early as you can, and we will look for a new date that works for both sides. Changes made with enough notice are usually simple. Any charge for changing or cancelling is written in your booking terms, so you know about it before you confirm, not after.
Do you take small moves, like one room or a few items?
Yes. Students, bachelors and people shifting only a fridge, a bed or a sofa are welcome. We send a smaller vehicle and fewer helpers, and price the job by what is actually moving. Small loads going to another city can often travel on a shared truck, which keeps the cost down for you.
What you pay, and why
How we work out your price, what is included, and how payment works. Our aim is simple: you should understand every line on your quote before you agree to it.
See our pricing pageHow is the price worked out?
Mainly by how much you are moving and how far it is going. Other things also matter: the floor and lift at both ends, how much packing material is needed, extra services like unpacking, vehicle transport or storage, and how busy your date is. The survey helps us count all of these, so the quote fits your actual move.
Are there any hidden charges?
No. Your written quote lists every charge, from packing and loading to transport and unloading. The price changes only if the move itself changes, for example extra items or a new address, and we agree on that with you first. If your society charges a moving fee or deposit, we remind you to check it early.
How and when do I pay?
You pay a booking amount of ₹1,000 to confirm your date, and the balance as written in your quote. We accept UPI, bank transfer and cash. Always ask for a receipt for every payment you make, and never hand money to anyone who cannot show your booking number.
Why are some quotes much cheaper than others?
Very low quotes often leave things out: good cartons and bubble wrap, enough helpers, unloading at the other end, or insurance. Some add charges on moving day, when you have little choice but to pay. Put quotes side by side and compare what each one includes, line by line, before you compare the totals.
Can flexible dates lower my price?
Sometimes, yes. Weekdays in the middle of the month are usually quieter than month ends, weekends and festival seasons. If your dates can move by a few days, tell us at the very start. We will let you know if another day works out better for your budget, and the choice stays yours.
Do you charge for the survey or the quote?
No. The survey, the call and the written quote are all free. You can take your time to think, compare and ask questions. Charges start only once you confirm a booking, and any cancellation charge after that is written clearly in your booking terms before you pay anything.
Boxes, wrapping and what goes where
How we pack, what you can pack yourself, and what should never go in the truck. Good packing is the main reason things reach safely, so this is where we take the most care.
More about our packing
What packing materials do you use?
Thick cartons, bubble wrap, foam sheets, packing paper, stretch film, corner guards and strong tape. Glass tops, large mirrors and delicate pieces can get a custom wooden crate. We choose the material for each item rather than one method for everything. A steel almirah needs foam and film; a set of glasses needs each piece wrapped and a sturdy box.
Can I pack some things myself?
Yes, and it can lower your cost. Use strong boxes, do not overfill them, keep heavy things like books in small boxes, and label each box with its room. Our team may suggest repacking any box of fragile items that looks unsafe. Please note that insurance cover can be different for boxes you pack yourself.
What items will you not carry?
We do not carry anything that can catch fire, explode or leak, such as filled gas cylinders, petrol, kerosene, paint thinner, firecrackers and strong chemicals. We also avoid perishable food, and plants on long routes. Keep cash, jewellery, important documents and medicines with you. Your move manager shares the full list before packing day.
How do you pack the kitchen and puja items?
Plates and glasses are wrapped one by one and packed standing on their edge, which makes them stronger in the box. Pressure cookers, steel utensils and the mixer get boxes of their own. Puja idols, photos and lamps are wrapped in soft layers, packed separately, and marked so they are handled gently and opened first if you wish.
Will you unpack at the new home too?
Yes, if you add unpacking to your booking. We open the boxes, place things on shelves and in cupboards room by room, and take away the empty cartons and wrapping. Even without full unpacking, we put every box in the room written on its label, so you are never searching through a pile in the hall.
On the day itself
How long it takes, who should be there, and what our team will do for you. Knowing this ahead of time makes the day calmer for the whole family.
About house shiftingHow long does a local move take?
Many smaller homes are packed, loaded, moved and unloaded in a single day. Larger homes, a high floor without a lift, a long walk from the parking area or heavy city traffic can stretch it. After the survey, your move manager gives you a realistic timeline for your own move, including when the team arrives and roughly when they will finish.
Do I need to be at home on moving day?
It is best if you or someone you trust is there at both pickup and delivery. That person shows the team what goes and what stays, points out fragile items, and checks and signs the item list. If you cannot be there yourself, tell us early and share the name and number of the person who will be.
Will you take apart and refit furniture?
Yes. We open beds, dining tables and wardrobes where needed, keep the screws and fittings in marked bags taped to the furniture, and fix everything again at the new home. Very old or glued furniture is checked first, since some pieces are safer moved whole. Tell us about modular wardrobes and kitchen fittings during the survey.
Can you help with the AC, TV wall mount or geyser?
We can help arrange a technician to remove and refit these, usually for an extra charge. Mention them during the survey so they are in your quote and timed correctly. An AC, for example, should be taken down before the packers start and fitted again once the room is set, which needs a little planning.
What should I keep aside on moving day?
Pack a small bag that you carry yourself: phone chargers, medicines, important papers, keys, jewellery, a change of clothes, some snacks and drinking water. Add a few things for the first night, like bedsheets, a towel and basic toiletries. Keep it in your car or with you, so it is not loaded onto the truck by mistake.
Moving your bike or car
How we carry two-wheelers and cars, and how to get yours ready. Vehicles can travel along with your household goods or be booked on their own.
How is my bike packed?
We wrap the body in foam and plastic, add extra layers over the mirrors, handlebar, tank and silencer, and tie the bike firmly inside the truck so it cannot move or tip over. Before loading, we note its condition and take photos with you. At delivery, we check it again together before you sign.
How is my car moved?
On a car carrier, either open or covered. A covered carrier gives more protection from dust, rain and flying stones, and suits newer cars. We record the car's condition, including any existing scratches and the odometer reading, with photos and a written note at pickup, and then check it again with you at delivery.
Which papers should I keep ready?
Usually copies of the registration certificate, the vehicle insurance and your ID proof. Keep the originals with you, not inside the vehicle. The exact list can depend on your route and whether the vehicle is changing state, so your move manager will tell you clearly what is needed well before pickup day.
Can I keep luggage inside my car?
Please do not. Remove personal items, loose parts and valuables from the cabin and the boot. Loose things can shift on the road and cause damage, and they are usually not covered as part of the vehicle. Pack them with your household goods instead, where they are listed, labelled and properly protected for the journey.
How much fuel should be in the tank?
Only a little, enough to drive the vehicle on and off the carrier and reach a petrol pump at the other end. A full tank adds weight and risk. Also make sure the battery is charged and the tyres are in good shape. Your move manager will confirm exactly what is right for your vehicle.
Long-distance and overseas moves
Delivery times, shared and dedicated trucks, paperwork between states, and shipping household goods abroad. Long moves need more planning, and we walk you through each part.
How long does intercity delivery take?
It depends on the distance, the route and the type of truck. As a rough guide, plan for about 3 to 8 days for most routes. Your move manager gives you an expected delivery date before the truck leaves and keeps you updated on the way. During heavy monsoon rain or festival traffic, we tell you early if timings may change.
Will my goods share a truck with someone else's?
That depends on the option you choose. A dedicated truck carries only your goods, goes direct and is usually faster. A shared load can cost less but may take a little longer, because it makes more than one stop. Ask us about both. Your quote will clearly say which one you are getting, so there is no confusion later.
Is paperwork needed to move goods between states?
Some documents may be needed when household goods cross state lines. We prepare the papers needed from our side and tell you clearly what we need from you, usually an ID copy and the signed item list. Your move manager will tell you exactly which papers are needed for your route well before moving day.
How will I know where my goods are on the way?
Your move manager shares updates at key points of the journey, such as when the truck leaves, when it is halfway and when it nears your city. You can call or message them any time to ask. Before delivery, we call to confirm that someone will be at the new home to receive everything.
Do you handle international moves door to door?
We handle export packing, guidance on shipping papers, and sea or air freight from India, and we coordinate delivery at your destination. Customs rules are different in every country, so we guide you on your destination early. Your move manager tells you which documents you need, and when, well before packing day.
Should I ship by sea or by air?
Sea shipping usually costs less for a full home but takes longer. Air is faster and suits a few boxes you need soon after you land, like work clothes, kitchen basics and children's things. Many families send the essentials by air and the rest by sea, so they can settle in while the bigger shipment is still on its way.
Keeping your things safe in between
When storage helps, how long you can keep things with us, and how to get them back. Storage is useful whenever your move-out and move-in dates do not line up.
Storage & warehousingWhen would I need storage?
When your new home is not ready yet, when you are renovating, when you are going abroad for a while, or when you are moving into a smaller place and want to keep some things for later. It also helps when you must leave a rented flat on the 30th but the new one is free only on the 10th.
How long can I store my things?
From a few days to many months. Storage is charged by the space your goods take and how long they stay, and the rate is written in your storage quote. Rates start from ₹2,500 per month. You can extend the period or end it whenever your plans change. Just give us a little notice so we can plan delivery to your new home.
Will my things be safe in storage?
Your goods are packed, listed and kept in a clean, covered and secure space, away from rain and damp. You get a copy of the item list with box numbers. Wooden furniture and mattresses are wrapped to keep dust out. Ask us about insurance for the storage period too, so you are covered for the full time.
Can I take out some items in between?
Usually, yes. Give us about two days' notice so we can find the boxes and keep them ready for you. Because every box is numbered and listed, finding one carton is quick. A small handling charge may apply, and it will be written in your storage terms so there are no surprises.
Can you store just a few items, not the whole home?
Yes. You can store only what you need to, such as a sofa set and some cartons while you live in a smaller flat for a few months. We pack and list only those items and move everything else to your new home as planned. Both parts are covered in one quote and handled by one move manager.
If something goes wrong
What transit insurance covers, how to check your goods at delivery, and what to do if something is damaged. We explain all of this before you book, so you can decide calmly.
Read about insuranceWhat does transit insurance cover?
It covers your goods against loss or damage while they are on the road, as per the policy terms. Cover depends on the declared value of your goods and the plan you choose. Before you decide, your move manager explains in plain words what is covered, what is not, and what you would need to show if you ever make a claim.
Do I have to take insurance?
No, it is optional. We do suggest it for intercity and international moves, and for costly items like a new TV, a large refrigerator or good furniture. Accidents on the road are rare, but they can happen. The cost is small compared to the value of what you own, and it gives you real peace of mind.
How do I declare the value of my goods?
You list the approximate current value of your goods, not what you paid for them years ago. Mention costly items separately, such as electronics, a piano or antique furniture. A fair value matters, because claims are usually settled against the value you declared. Your move manager will help you fill the form if you are unsure.
What should I do if something is damaged?
If you notice damage while unloading, write it on the delivery receipt before you sign. Take clear photos of the item and its box. Then tell your move manager in writing within 48 hours, with the box number from your item list. Keep the damaged item and its packing as they are until the check is done.
How long does a claim take?
It depends on the insurer and how quickly the papers are shared. Your move manager helps you fill the forms and follows up on your behalf. Keep your quote, item list, delivery receipt, photos and payment receipts together, as this speeds things up. We aim to give you a clear update within 48 hours of receiving your claim.
