We started with one idea: moving should be honest, careful and calm.
Lifter Shifter is a packers and movers company that works all across India. We help families, students, working people and businesses move from one place to another without the usual fear of hidden charges, broken things and phones that nobody picks up.
This page tells you why we exist, what our name means, what we believe in and how our team works. Read it, and then decide if we are the right people to trust with your home.

Why Lifter Shifter exists
Ask almost anyone in India about their last move and you will hear a story. The price was one thing on the phone and another thing on moving day. The truck came four hours late. The new sofa had a tear that nobody could explain. And when they called the company to ask what happened, the phone just kept ringing.
These stories are so common that many people now expect moving to be painful. They take leave from work only to sit and watch the packers. They pack their own glassware the night before because they do not trust anyone else. They keep extra cash ready because they know someone will ask for "loading charges" or "staircase charges" that were never mentioned.
Lifter Shifter was started in Mumbai because we believed this did not have to be normal. Moving is hard physical work, and long routes do have real challenges. But hidden charges, careless handling and silence on the phone are not challenges. They are choices. We decided to make different choices.

So we built the company around three plain ideas. First, be honest: tell the customer the full price in writing before any work starts, and never add anything they did not agree to. Second, be careful: use good packing material, train the team properly, and treat every item as if it belonged to our own family. Third, be calm: plan the move well, keep the customer updated, and always answer the phone.
None of this is complicated. Any moving company could do it. The hard part is doing it on every single move, including the ones on a rainy day in July, the ones on the last Sunday of the month when every truck in the city is busy, and the ones where the building lift stops working halfway through. That is the discipline we work on every day.
A move is usually linked to a big moment in life. A new job, a wedding, a child going to college, a retirement, a business that is growing. We want our part in that moment to be the easy part, so you can think about what is ahead and not about the boxes.
No hidden charges. No careless hands. No phone left ringing.
Three simple things we decided to get right, on every move.
We lift. We shift. You settle in.
Our name is not only a rhyme. Each part describes one stage of your move, and who is responsible for it. The first two parts are our job. The last part is yours to enjoy.
Lift
Lifting is the hard work, and we take all of it. Wrapping every plate, opening the bed, carrying the steel almirah down three floors when there is no lift, loading the truck so nothing slides on the highway. It is sweaty, careful, skilled work, and you should not have to do any of it.
Shift
Shifting is the journey, whether it is ten kilometres across town or two thousand kilometres across the country. It means a closed truck, a planned route, a driver who knows the job, and a move manager who tells you where your things are without you having to ask.
Settle in
Settling in is your moment. You open the door, the beds are already fixed, the kitchen boxes are in the kitchen and the TV is standing safely in its corner. Everything we do in the first two stages is to give you this calm first evening in a new place.
Five values that guide every move
Values only matter if they change what people do. These five shape how our team packs your kitchen, talks to your society guard and calls you with an update. Here is what each one means in practice.
-
1
Honesty
We tell you the real price, the real timeline and the real risks. Your quote lists every charge, including packing material, labour, floors and transport. If your building has no lift, we tell you what that changes before the move, not on the stairs. And if we cannot do something well, like moving a very large piano up a narrow staircase, we say so instead of promising it and failing.
-
2
Care
We handle your things the way we would handle our own family's. A cheap steel tumbler and an expensive television both get attention, because both belong to you. Puja items are wrapped separately and kept upright. Children's school things are packed in one marked box so they are easy to find on Monday morning. Care also means care for your walls, floors and door frames while heavy things go in and out.
-
3
Punctuality
Your time matters. You may have taken a day off, booked the society lift for a fixed slot or promised your landlord the keys by evening. So we arrive when we said we would. If traffic, rain or a breakdown causes a delay, we call you before you have to call us, and we tell you the new time honestly.
-
4
Respect
We are guests in your home, so we behave like guests. Our team speaks politely to you, your family, your neighbours and your building staff. We follow your house rules, like removing shoes in the puja room. We keep noise low, do not block common corridors for long, and never open drawers, bags or cupboards that we do not need to open.
-
5
Simplicity
Moving has enough moving parts already. We keep our side simple: plain words, short forms, one contact person and a quote you can understand in two minutes. If there is something you must do, like booking the lift or getting a society NOC, we tell you clearly and early, so nothing becomes a last-minute rush.
How we train the people who come to your door
A moving company is only as good as the people who show up on moving day. The best plan in the world means nothing if the packer wraps a mirror badly or speaks rudely to your mother. So we spend real effort on how our team learns.
New team members do not lead a job on day one. They first work next to experienced packers, watching and helping, and learn the right way to do each task by doing it many times under guidance. Only when they are ready do they take on more responsibility.
Every move also has a move manager. This person plans your job, briefs the team before they reach your home, and stays your single point of contact until the last box is placed.
Training does not stop once someone joins a job. After moves, we talk about what went well and what could be better. If a customer tells us a box was hard to find or a corner got scratched, that becomes a lesson for the whole team, so the next family does not face the same problem.

Packing each kind of item
How to wrap glass, crockery, electronics, mirrors, idols and wooden furniture, and which material suits each one.
Lifting and loading safely
How to carry heavy items on narrow stairs, use a lift without damaging it, and load a truck so nothing shifts on a bumpy road.
Opening and fixing furniture
How to take apart beds, wardrobes and tables, keep every screw in a marked bag, and put them back together properly.
Listing and labelling
Every box is numbered, marked by room and written on the item list, so nothing goes missing between two homes.
Behaviour in your home
Polite talk, clean work, care for floors and walls, and respect for your family's privacy and customs.
What a move with us feels like
Let us walk you through a typical move from where you stand. Imagine a family shifting a 2 BHK on the third floor, with no lift, to a new flat in another part of the city. Nothing here is special treatment. It is simply how we try to run every move, big or small.
-
1
The first call
You call or fill the short form. Someone actually picks up or calls back. They ask a few simple questions about your home, your dates and what worries you, without any pressure to book.
-
2
A price you can read
After a quick visit or video call, you get a written quote. The three floors without a lift are already in it. You know the full amount before you say yes.
-
3
A quiet week before
Your move manager reminds you to inform both societies, keep jewellery and papers aside, and empty the fridge a day early. You are not left guessing what to do.
-
4
Moving day, without the drama
The team arrives on time with all the material. You make tea while they pack. Every box is labelled and listed, and you sign the list before the truck leaves.
-
5
The first evening
Boxes go to the right rooms, beds are fixed and the sofa sits where you pointed. You check the list, sign, and sleep in your own bed on night one.
-
6
And after that
If you find a problem while unpacking, you call the same move manager. They listen, write it down and tell you clearly what happens next.
What you can always count on
Every move is different, but these promises stay the same whether you are moving one room or a full office, inside your city or across India.
A written quote before any work
You see every charge on paper or on WhatsApp before you book. If the move changes, we agree on the new price with you first.
No cash demands on the spot
Nobody on our team will ask you for "extra" money for stairs, tips or tea in the middle of the move. If anyone does, tell your move manager.
A phone that gets answered
Your move manager picks up, or calls back within 30 minutes. You will not be passed from one desk to another.
Good material for every item
Thick cartons, bubble wrap, foam and stretch film, chosen for what is being packed. We do not save money on the things that keep your goods safe.
An item list, signed twice
The list is checked and signed at pickup and again at delivery, so both of us know exactly what moved.
A fair process if something goes wrong
Report any damage within 48 hours. We look into it honestly and keep you informed. See our insurance page for details.
Not one city. The whole country.
Lifter Shifter does not belong to a single home city. We plan moves between big metros, smaller towns and everything in between: a flat in Pune to a house in Lucknow, a shop in Jaipur to a new space in Indore, a family home in Kochi to a job posting in Guwahati.
Long routes need more planning. Your move manager thinks about the season, the roads and the timing, like avoiding the heaviest monsoon days on hill routes, or the month-end rush when every truck is busy. Whatever the distance, you get the same written quote, the same careful packing and the same single contact person.

Senior citizens
A patient team that explains each step, does all the heavy work and never rushes you through decisions.
Offices, shops and clinics
Planned moves, often after hours or over a weekend, so your work stops for as little time as possible.
Companies moving employees
One contact for HR, simple billing, and a calm move for the employee's family.

Export packing and guidance on paperwork for household goods going overseas.
