Same city, new address. Home by tonight.
Moving across town sounds easy until you open the first cupboard. Suddenly there are a hundred small things to wrap, a wardrobe that will not fit through the door and a society office asking for a letter. Lifter Shifter takes all of that off your hands.
We pack every room, take apart the big furniture, carry it down safely, drive it across the city and set it up again in your new home. Most local moves finish in one day, so you can sleep in your own bed on the very first night.
Homes we move
From a single room to a full family house. The team and truck are sized to fit.
- 1 RK, studio flats and PG rooms
- 1, 2 and 3 BHK apartments
- Builder floors and walk-up buildings
- Independent houses, duplexes and villas
One booking covers the whole move
You should not have to hire a packer, a truck, a carpenter and a helper separately. A standard house shifting booking with us includes all the main jobs below. Anything outside this list, like wall mounting or AC fitting, is written in your quote as a separate line, so you know about it before the day.
Packing and material
Cartons, bubble wrap, foam, stretch film and tape are brought by our team. Every box is labelled with its room and listed on your inventory.
Furniture opening and fixing
Beds, wardrobes and tables that need to be opened are taken apart before loading and put back together in the new home.
Loading, transport, unloading
A closed truck of the right size, a driver who knows city routes, and a team that loads heavy items first and fragile items last.
Room-wise placement
Boxes and furniture go straight to the right room in your new home, not in one big pile in the hall.
Item list you sign
You check and sign the list at pickup and again at delivery, so both sides agree on exactly what moved.
One move manager
One person plans your day, talks to your society if needed and stays on call until the last box is in.
Your moving day, hour by hour
Knowing what happens when makes the day far less stressful. Here is how a typical local move for a 2 BHK runs. A 1 RK may be done by lunch, and a large villa may need packing a day earlier, but the order stays the same.
Your move manager confirms the start time the evening before. If your society only allows shifting between certain hours, we plan the whole day around that window instead of rushing at the end.
- EARLY MORNING
Team arrives at 8 am
The supervisor walks through each room with you, notes fragile and special items, and asks what you are keeping aside.
- MORNING
Packing starts
Kitchen and fragile items first, because they take the longest. Another packer starts on wardrobes and books.
- LATE MORNING
Furniture opened and wrapped
Beds and wardrobes are taken apart. Screws go into bags marked with the item name. Sofas and tables get foam and film.
- MIDDAY
Loading and list check
Heavy items go in first, boxes in the middle, fragile items on top. You check the item list and sign it.
- AFTERNOON
Drive and unload
The truck crosses the city. At the new home, boxes go room by room, matching the labels.
- EVENING
Setup and sign-off
Beds are fixed first, then wardrobes and the dining table. You do a final walk-through and sign off.
Each room is packed in its own way
A kitchen full of glass and steel needs a different method from a bedroom full of clothes. So our packers work room by room, use the material that suits each one and never mix rooms inside a box.
Each carton gets a tag with its room name and a word about what is inside, like "FRAGILE" or "HEAVY". At the new home, nobody has to open a box to know where it goes. You find your pressure cooker in the kitchen, not under the bed.
Kitchen
Plates and glasses are wrapped one by one and packed standing up, with paper between them. Steel utensils are nested to save space. Spices and oil bottles are sealed with tape and packed upright in a separate box so nothing leaks. The gas cylinder is never packed full; please keep it empty or arrange its transfer with your gas agency.
Bedroom
Hanging clothes can travel in wardrobe cartons so they do not crease. Folded clothes and bedsheets fill soft bags. Mattresses are covered in thick plastic to keep them clean. Jewellery and important papers stay with you, not in a box.
Living room
The TV goes in its original box or a foam-lined carton, with the remote and stand screws taped in a marked bag. Showpieces get bubble wrap. Photo frames and mirrors are packed between card sheets with corner guards.
Puja room
Idols, photos, brass lamps and kalash are wrapped with extra care in clean cloth and soft layers. If your family prefers to pack these yourselves, we give you the material and space. This box is clearly marked so it can be opened first at the new home.
Kids' room
School books and uniforms go in one box marked for the first week. Toys are packed together so children see familiar things quickly. Study tables and bunk beds are opened and fixed again the same day.
Balcony and plants
Pots are wrapped at the base so soil does not spill, and placed upright in the truck where they get air. Water them a day before, not on the day, so pots are lighter. Drying stands, buckets and shoe racks are tied together and loaded last.
Taken apart carefully. Put back together properly.
Most furniture in Indian homes is not made to fit through a narrow door or a tight staircase in one piece. A king-size bed, a sliding-door wardrobe or a large dining table usually has to be opened. Forcing it out in one piece is how walls get scratched and joints get cracked.
Our team opens each piece using the right tools, wraps the parts separately and keeps every screw, bolt and bracket in a small bag marked with the item name, like "Master bed" or "Kids' study table". The bags travel in one box that stays with the supervisor, so nothing goes missing between homes.

At the new home, beds are always fixed first, because everyone needs somewhere to sleep that night. Then come wardrobes, the dining table and the study tables. We check that doors close properly and drawers slide smoothly before we call it done.
A few things need a little extra planning. Modular wardrobes fixed to the wall, glass-top tables and old furniture that has been repaired before can take longer. Tell us about them when you ask for a quote. Some built-in carpentry may not come apart cleanly, and we will say so honestly instead of risking damage.
The big four, handled the right way
Every home has a few items that worry people the most. Think of a third-floor flat with no lift and a double-door fridge that has to go down the stairs. These are the pieces where training matters. Here is how we handle each one.
Fridge
Switch it off and empty it the night before so it can defrost and dry. We tape the doors shut, wrap it in foam and keep it upright the whole way. After delivery, let it stand for a few hours before switching on.
Washing machine
Drain all the water a day before. For front loaders, the transit bolts should be fitted back if you still have them, so the drum does not swing. Pipes are coiled and taped to the body.
Steel almirah
We empty it first, because a full almirah is too heavy to carry safely. The doors are locked and the keys handed to you. It is wrapped in thick sheets so the paint does not scratch, and carried with belts.
Sofa
Legs are removed where possible. Fabric sofas get a plastic cover first to keep dust away, then foam on the corners. An L-shaped sofa is separated into its parts before it goes through the door.
Permissions, lift booking and truck parking
In most apartment societies, you cannot just bring a truck in and start loading. Many ask for advance notice, have fixed hours for shifting and want the service lift booked. A missed permission can hold up a whole team at the gate. We help you sort this out a few days before, at both your old and new building.
Rules differ from one society to another, so your move manager will ask you to check with both offices.

Move-out NOC or gate pass
Many societies want a letter or gate pass before goods leave. Often they check that maintenance dues are clear. Ask your society office what they need, at least a few days ahead.
Service lift booking
Book the service lift for the full time slot at both buildings. We cover the lift walls with sheets so nothing scratches them, which keeps your society happy too.
Parking for the truck
The truck needs a spot near your tower or gate. In narrow lanes, we may use a smaller vehicle for the last stretch. Tell us about tight turns or low gates when you book.
No lift? No problem.
For walk-up buildings, we plan extra hands and more time for the stairs. Just tell us the floor so the quote is right from the start.
Moving with kids, elderly parents and pets
A move is not only about things. It is hard on the people and animals in the house too. A little planning keeps everyone calm, safe and out of the way of heavy furniture being carried around.
With young children
If you can, let small children spend the day with grandparents or a neighbour. Pack a bag with their favourite toy, snacks and a change of clothes. Older children enjoy labelling their own boxes, which makes them feel part of the move.
With elderly parents
Keep their medicines, spectacles and a chair in one quiet room until the end. We pack that room last and set up their bed first at the new home, so they can rest early. Tell us about any walker or medical equipment.
With pets
Doors stay open all day during a move, which is when pets slip out. Keep your dog or cat in a closed room with water and its bed, or with a friend. Pets travel with you in your own car, never in the moving truck.
Pick a gentle date
Avoid exam weeks for children and hospital visit days for elders. A weekend morning move often works well, since the family is together and the new home is ready by evening.
Pack a first-night bag, and thank yourself later
By evening, you will be tired, and the last thing you want is to open fifteen boxes looking for a toothbrush. So we suggest every family keeps one bag and one box aside that do not go in the truck with everything else. The bag travels with you. The box goes into the truck last and comes out first, with a big "OPEN FIRST" tag.
Our team also fixes beds and the main lights before leaving, so the house is liveable on night one, even if the rest of the unpacking waits for the weekend.
- Medicines for everyone
- Phone chargers
- Two days of clothes
- Towels and soap
- Bedsheets and pillows
- Kettle, cups and tea
- Drinking water and snacks
- Torch and extension board
- Toilet roll and bucket
- Keys, papers and jewellery
We don't disappear once the truck is empty
The move is not really over until you feel settled. These are the ways we keep helping after the main job is done. Some are part of every move, and some can be added if you want them.
Unpacking on request
Our team can open boxes, put kitchen things on shelves and hang clothes in wardrobes. It turns a week of unpacking into an afternoon.
Carton pickup
Empty cartons and wrapping pile up fast. Ask your move manager, and we will arrange to collect them, so they do not fill your balcony.
Rearranging furniture
Living in a room for a day often changes your mind about where the sofa should go. Tell us on the day, and we will move it before leaving.
Help with a concern
If you find a problem with an item, tell your move manager within 48 hours. We look into it quickly and explain clearly what happens next.
Why families choose us for a local move
A local move is short, but it is still your whole home on a truck. Here is what you get with us that you may not get from a truck and a few helpers found at the last minute.
See how our pricing worksA written price before the day
Floors, lift, furniture opening and packing material are all listed. No one asks for extra money at the gate.
Trained packers, not just loaders
Our team knows how to wrap glass, open a modular wardrobe and carry an almirah down a narrow staircase.
Respect for your building
We cover lift walls, avoid blocking the gate and keep noise down, so your neighbours stay friendly.
Transit insurance on offer

House shifting questions
These are the questions families ask us most before a local move. If yours is not here, call or WhatsApp us on +91 93261 78863.
Read all questionsCan my whole home really move in one day?
For most flats within the same city, yes. Very large homes, or homes with a lot of fragile items, may need packing to start the day before. We will tell you which plan suits you when we give the quote.
How is the price worked out?
It depends on how much you have, the floors at both ends, whether there is a lift, the distance and any extras like unpacking. A short call or video walk-through is usually enough for a clear quote.
When should I book?
One to two weeks ahead is comfortable. Month-end dates and weekends fill up quickly because many rental agreements end then, so book earlier if you need those days.
Do I have to empty my cupboards?
No. Our packers will do it. Just take out cash, jewellery and important papers, and keep them with you.
Will you disconnect and reconnect my AC or geyser?
These need a technician. We can arrange one as an add-on, or you can use your own. Either way, plan it ahead so the AC is ready for removal on the day.
What if it rains on moving day?
In the monsoon, we carry extra plastic sheets and wrap furniture and mattresses fully. The truck is closed, and we load quickly between showers where possible.
